About

Moises Anaya (1987) was born in Tulancingo, a small city northeast of Mexico City. He studied advertising and is self-taught in film through jobs as a director, editor, and cinematographer on productions for media outlets like NETFLIX, VICE Media, National Geographic, Discovery Channel, various non-profit organizations, and brands like Johnnie Walker, Stella Artois, Coca-Cola Family, NTS and RA. In 2014 he was part of the art project Labor in a Single Shot by Harun Farocki and Antje Ehmann. That same year his short film RAMOS won the jury award of the Docs MX Challenge, and in 2015 he took a directing course at the New York Film Academy, where he was mentored by Director Jonathan Whittaker. As a director, Moises’ short films have been part of festivals such as; Dublin Doc Fest, Docs MX, ICARO Festival of Central America, Short Films Screening China International New Media (CSFF), Zanate Festival, Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival, and Mix Film Festival, among others. In 2019 he collaborated with a production company in Nepal and was part of the Kaalo 101 artist residency in Kathmandu. His current documentary project about the bullfighter Lorenzo Garza Gaona was part of the Zanate residency and Plataforma MX in 2019 and the CAAP workshop in 2021. He is now developing his first feature film.
