About

Rodney Dekker is a photographer and filmmaker. He has extensively documented stories about climate change through short films, radio and photography in Australia, Bangladesh and the South Pacific. Most recently he produced a series of shot films about refugees and asylum seekers. His story 'Tides of Resilience' commissioned by ABC Radio National, was a finalist of the UN Media Peace Awards, for Best Online, 2012. His short films have been broadcast by SBS, The Guardian, ABC, Sydney Morning Herald, Australian Geographic and the Herald Sun. His photos have appeared in The Toronto Star, The Jakarta Post, The Washington Times, Asian Geographic, The Age, and the Sydney Morning Herald. Dekker’s been a finalist of Head On, Reportage, UN Media Peace Awards, Australia's Top Photographers, Moran Photographic Prize, International Photography Awards, Px3, received nominations for Prix Pictet and PDN’s 30 and was selected for the Eddie Adams Workshop USA.
