Woolworths and Telstra engaged MSQUARE to design, develop and produce the 90 second film with the objectives to improve brand value and consideration through clear, compelling and intuitive brand positioning. It was also important to capture the spirit of co-creation between Telstra Wholesale and Woolworths Mobile to drive customer experience for both organizations’ external and internal amplification.

Telstra, approached MSQUARE with a challenge: their Cyber Security team wanted to to produce a series of ‘training videos’ that would raise awareness about Cyber Security to their 35,000 employees. They wanted to capture their viewer’s attention and leave a lasting impression on them.

The team at MSQUARE worked together to develop a cinematic solution to connect with Sony’s young, hip-hop audience. It was important to focus on aspiring creatives as the primary audience, with a soft focus on the Sony headphone product. The delivery of the narrative should feel relatable and inspirational, nodding to the heroes in films whose personal journey captivates and inspires us.

MSQUARE proposed an immersive content solution that combines a 360° Virtual Reality Experience with Traditional Cinema in the format of a theatrical short film titled “The SOC Analyst.” The 360° virtual reality format could be used at Telstra’s largest event, Vantage, as a virtual reality experience to observe the story in 1st person POV and learn what Telstra’s SOC Analysts do in the occurrence of a security breach. In this format the audience can experience the movie from the point of view of the character “Ash”. The theatrical version uses the traditional cinema format for viewers who wish to enjoy the story in the same familiar way as watching a film. Both formats could be leveraged across online platforms and would include a ‘theatrical trailer’ to build viewer interest and attract audiences prior to the release.
