About
I am a dedicated freelance director (self shooting when needed), producer, researcher and on-camera host with TV documentary experience and am currently freelancing for companies such as VICE, Al Jazeera, TRT World, AFP, Zinc Network and other. As Head of Production in VICE Serbia since its launch in 2014, for the first two years I partook in establishing the office and the required VICE film style and format. I then moved my focus solely to the creative as Supervising Producer, overseeing all of the production’s films. I directed and hosted on-camera my own documentaries broadcast on various VICE platforms (VICE Serbia, VICELAND, VICE International) I was born in Belgrade, attended high school in Cape Town and after a time spent living and studying in New Zealand, the US and the UK, I returned to Belgrade where I am mostly based.

It was at an elementary school that former Yugoslavia first met the hoops, and its glory years of international success throughout the 70s and 80s was emulated by Serbia for many more years to follow. Katarina Petrovic spoke to some coaches and players in Belgrade to find out what has changed in basketball since the Yugoslav times.

The New Year also represents new beginnings. And what symbolises a fresh start more than a wedding? We are taking you now to a special and unique wedding in Bulgaria where Pomaks live. The Pomaks are a small Muslim community which converted to Islam during the Ottoman era. Every winter their villages become festive as they celebrate their weddings in a manner which keeps their tradition and history alive. Katarina Petrovic joined them during a ceremony in Ribnovo and sent us this special report.

Albania was, for decades, one of the most heavily armed countries in the world. Throughout the Cold War, the Communist state was preparing for a war which never happened. Nearly 175 thousand bunkers were built across the country, but none of them ever saw any combat. Instead, today, most have been converted into hostels, homes and museums. Katarina Petrovic went to Tirana to see how the bunkers are being used for a new purpose.

On January 17th a young mother from the Serbian city of Shid - Marica Mihajlovic - posted online about a horrifying experience. Marica said she was exposed to obstetric violence during childbirth and accused the doctor of being responsible for the death of her baby. She asked people to share her Facebook post and spread the word as she believed she was neither the first nor the last victim of this doctor. Many in Serbia and the region were shocked after hearing her story and many women came out
