“Fukkō”: Japanese word meaning restoration, reconstruction, rebirth.

Friday, March 11, 2011, the earth trembles in the northeast of Japan. Waves, like mountains, hit the coast, causing the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear accident.

Ten years later, the wave of desolation has given way to a wave of hope, expression, creation.

Fukkō is the story of women and men who write the post-tragedy story. They are teachers, surfers, members of NGOs, craftsmen… Their work and commitment work for the material but also cultural and social reconstruction of the damaged area.

There is no medieval castle to visit on this small island in the Japanese inland sea (Setouchi) but strange artistic creations that attract visitors from all over the world: installations, museum-hotels, private art collections... admire everywhere the sculptures of the big names in contemporary art.
