Women's March 2021 | Austin, TX
A compilation of the 2021 Women's March in Austin, Texas. On September 1st, 2021, Senate Bill 8 (SB8) went into effect in the state of Texas, effectively banning women from obtaining an abortion. The actual language of the bill prohibits medical providers from performing an abortion after the six week mark. This timestamp is typically associated with when a fetal heartbeat is detected and well before most women learn that they're pregnant. Abortion is a complicated issue for Americans, so whatever your opinion is I hope you can watch this video and see that there are real human beings concerned with the state dictating to them their allowed medical procedures. The women gathered here share the common view that they have a right to bodily autonomy and that no government possesses the right to restrict a human being from seeking the medical care that an individual and their doctor prescribe. In my personal view, the government cannot restrict abortion access at the highest levels of power until women represent an equal share of that power. Please enjoy the video and do your best to recognize each other's common humanity. It's slipping away in the 21st century and the only radical act that matters is empathy.
