About Rachel
I'm Rachel and I'm obsessed with the creative process behind conveying a story visually. I graduated SF State for photojournalism, won a Hearst Certificate of Merit for a video I shot and edited in Istanbul (where I befriended a home-grown "terrorist" group and many other exciting things), worked at two jobs while shooting video/photo projects for my hometown newspaper until I got the job I have now for the Las Vegas Review-Journal. I love this job because it throws me into situations I would not normally be in. The second video I ever shot was about abalone diving(never dived before) and I'm working on a mini-doc about a driving crew that drifts illegally, shutting down freeways to follow something they believe is their right in life. I'm easily enamored by my subjects. Good stories seriously make my life worth living. I can't imagine doing anything else.

Marcus Henderson, Anthony Burnett, Rashawn Young, and Latazsha Reese make up the group BARS, or "Brothers Are Radically Superb." They combine turfing, bone breaking, popping, and anything that inspires them to put on a improv-based theatrical show of raw self-expression. This video is the third in my profile video series for the Las Vegas Review Journal, called "Vegas Stripped."
