About
Matteo is a Northeast-based freelance documentary and commercial cinematographer with a passion for capturing compelling place-based stories that delve into the intersection of people, culture and the environment. Matteo has told stories of mountain communities in Japan, salmon fishers in remote areas of Alaska and founders of Hip Hop in the heart of the Bronx. He is a 2023 newportFILM: Documentary Cinematographer Lab Fellow and his films have been selected to Oscar-qualifying festivals, recognized by Sundance and Adobe and created in collaboration with brands such as The North Face, Orvis and Nike. Matteo has certifications in the following that serve me well working in a variety of outdoor/adventure situations: AIARE Level 1, SSI Certified Scuba Diver, HSI Adult First Aid/CPR/AED, GWO Basic Safety, Sea Survival, and HUET + CA-EBS (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training and Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System)

There are not many places in the world where you can catch a 20 lb Rainbow trout on foot. Jurassic lake is one of those places. It's windy, it's desolate, and it's remote. But, if you have the chance to spend a few days casting to these fish, they will undoubtedly haunt your dreams. We spent a week with Estancia Laguna Verde getting a taste for what was below the magical water's surface.
