Florio is a photographer-filmmaker basing between London and The Gambia - focusing on under-reported stories about people living on the margins of society and human rights. He has lived and worked in The Gambia, West Africa, over the past 20 years, creating bodies of photographic work and documentaries exploring themes including human rights, environment, migration, and transitional justice. His work has been published in international outlets including, The New York Times, The New Yorker, CNN, and The Telegraph. He has produced, directed, and filmed documentaries for clients, including Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, European Union, and MIT Boston. He has exhibited with solo photography shows in the USA, Europe, and Asia, and his work has been recognized with several awards, including The Magnum Photography Award, Px3 (The Prix de la Photographie), and American Photography 34. He has received grants from Aperture Foundation, EU Migration Media, and Fondation pour l'Egalité des Chances en Afrique.
