I am a Political sociologist engaged in research, teaching, writing and speaking. Currently, I am Professor of Sociology Ibn Haldun University, Turkey. Earlier, I worked as Senior Research Fellow at Max Planck Institute, Göttingen, Germany. Still earlier, I worked as an Associate Professor of Political Anthropology at the Australian Catholic University, Melbourne and as a senior lecturer in politics at Monash University, Australia. Before moving to Australia, I had taught at the Utrecht University and the University of Amsterdam. I earned my doctorate (cum laude) from University of Amsterdam. I have authored 2 monographs and co-edited 4 books. I have been interviewed, inter alia, by Al-Jazeera, Deutsche Welle, Frontline, The Hindu, New York Times, NRC Handelsblad (Netherlands), Sky News (Australia) &TRT World. I have contributed opinion pieces to English media in Australia, India, Britain, Europe and elsewhere. In 2020, I gave the TED-X talk: Twins Unknown: Islamophobia & Domophilia.
