Roxi Pop is a Romanian photographer currently based in Antwerp, Belgium. She is available for assignments anywhere in Belgium and the neighbouring countries: Netherlands, France, Luxembourg, Germany. She studied photojournalism with a Fulbright Scholarship in United States and graduated with an MA in Journalism from the University of Missouri. Her master project is about the first life-style gated community in United States. In 2015, Roxi moved back to Romania, launching her career as freelance photographer. She founded the first documentary photo festival, a photo collective and annual photographers gathering. Because she had different visions about the future of documentary photography and team work, she felt forced to leave the organisation. Since then she works as a full-time freelancer and started B Pop Media, a multimedia company, together with her partner Tomas Bachot. I photographed two days in Iasi, Romania and a village in Bacau county for the story about measles outbreak in Romania. I had to connect with people very fast, as there was no time. That was a challenge, as well as convincing the parents with sick children in the hospital to be photographed.
A personal documentary photography project about my return to my home country Romania after spending three years in U.S. The project was presented at the Donker Kamer at Bozar Museum in Brussels. It was also featured on The New Yorker Instagram account, FotoRoom, Scena 9, Decat o Revista.
