Dania Bdeir is a Lebanese writer/director of Syrian origins. She was born in Canada, where her parents fled to escape the Lebanese civil war, and then moved back to Beirut where she got her Bacherlor's degree in graphic design at the American University of Beirut. Dania is getting her MFA in film at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. Her short film Kaleidoscope, shot in Beirut has traveled to numerous film festivals around the world. She is currently living in between Lebanon and New York while she writes her first feature film which she plans to shoot in both Beirut and New York as her thesis film. Dania has always had a passion for Lebanon and sharing the untold stories of the Middle East. This passion draws her to journalistic and documentary work that deal with people and social issues, which she enjoys and uses as inspiration for her narrative work.
Reine is a girl with a strong passion for ballet. She has lived all her life in a small, low-income neighborhood in Beirut, taking ballet lessons at a local NGO. She had never before traveled outside of Lebanon, until she received a life-changing opportunity through The Nawaya Network , to attend a two-week dance program in the US. This documentary features her journey and transformation
I wrote and directed this short film shot in Beirut. The story was inspired from the actual events of Summer 2012 in Beirut when the employees of the Electricity Company were protesting by burning tires on the streets of Beirut.
