About

Lawal Sherif, a Nigerian, is a news editor with three privately-owned radio stations in Nigeria - 96.9 Cool FM, 95.1 Wazobia FM, and 99.3 Nigeria Info (where he appears daily to review national newspapers), as well as WazobiaTV. He also researches for some on-air personalities on the earlier mentioned radio stations, which help them build contents for their shows. Sherif also prides himself as a pioneer member of the newsroom of the first pidgin radio station in Lagos, Nigeria - 95.1 Wazobia FM. Sherif likes to refer to himself as a "14 year-old journalist"; because he has been practicing for same number of years and he has done so with the aforementioned stations; starting with Coolfm in 2004. He began as an intern and after obtaining an HND in Mass Communication in 2006; he joined two professional bodies (NIPR and APCON) and obtained an MSc in Media Management in 2010. In 2012, Sherif (only Nigerian that year) participated in a United States’ Government sponsored program tagged Youth in Politics, which afforded participants an opportunity to learn and appreciate the electoral process of the US and the involvement of the youth in American politics. Also, in 2012, Sherif made his acting debut in a stage play entitled PEPPERSOUP, and has featured in two other stage plays since then.
