Hello! I'm a video journalist and documentary filmmaker. I've produced, directed, shot, and edited with PopTech and PopTech partners, including Microsoft, Rockefeller Foundation, Time Warner Cable, eBay, Red Crescent and a handful of NGOs. A graduate of Stanford's Masters in documentary film program, I’m experienced in all aspects of production, including shooting, directing, running sound, creating basic graphics, and editing. I've had the opportunity to work in Bosnia, South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Haiti, Nicaragua, India, Iceland, and across the US. I'd love to help you on your project.

Collaborators Reuben Margolin, a kinetic sculptor and Gideon Obarzanek, a choreographer, met at the 2009 PopTech conference. When a giant volcano erupted in Iceland, airlines across Europe cancelled thousands of flights, stranding around 7 million people. One tiny airline however moved their entire route network to Glasgow with only a six-hour window before being enveloped by ash, and was able to operate 80% of scheduled flights even as every other airline was brought to their knees.

When violence threatens to break out on city streets, in the run-up to an election, or in a land dispute, how can community leaders instantly reach out to urge calm and quash false rumors? PopTech teamed up with Sisi Ni Amani in the run up to the 2013 elections in Kenya to drive subscriptions to their novel mobile violence prevention service and craft behavior-change SMS messaging models.

The challenge PopTech faced as they began Project M? South Africa has more HIV positive citizens than any country in the world. In some provinces, more than 40% of the population is infected. Yet only 2% have ever been tested for HIV. Pat Boone, an elderly sheep herder, lived alone, barely scrounging by, and yet also bore the responsible of his wheelchair-bound sister. He could barely afford the kerosene he needed. Shot on the Navajo Nation where we were invited, thanks to the prototype project we were developing using flexible portable solar cells to generate light or charge phones or flashlight batteries. 1 of 6 profiles.
