My People, Our Stories: Za'atari (360 series): Producer
I went to Za'atari refugee camp in Jordan to produce documentary series by training and equipping young aspiring filmmakers in 360 video. Teenagers always have big dreams of making an impact in the world, and Syrian refugees are no different. In Jordan’s Za’atari refugee camp, we met seven teenagers. Contrast and World Vision partnered to train and equip these teenagers with 360° cameras. 7 Stories for 7 Years is the end result of Contrast’s training at Jordan’s Za’atari refugee camp. Narrated by Game of Thrones’ Liam Cunningham, this film is comprised of intimate footage shot by the Syrian teenagers themselves. The documentary invites you to listen to their dreams, hopes, and challenges.

Just Food: Director, VR Shooter
Three mothers in Maiduguri used to wake up before sunrise everyday to farm their own land, feed their families, and earn a living. Now, displaced and living suspended lives in IDP camps in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State in northeast Nigeria, sourcing food for their children is a daily struggle. Over the past decade, the Boko Haram insurgency has displaced over 1.8 million Nigerians in a predominantly agricultural northeast Nigeria, stalling food production, hiking up prices, and restricting safe market access to help create one of the world’s worst food crises. Just Food: Coping with the Crisis, an immersive film by Contrast, sheds light on the people impacted by the widespread food insecurity crisis. Through the stories of three displaced women who live in different IDP camps, we examine how in spite of hardship, they find ways to put food on the table for their children.
