Kalen Cheng is a filmmaker and DP based in New York City. Kalen creates content that makes you feel, capturing moments, framing visceral emotions. She creates documentaries and narratives centered around themes of dignity, faith, race, and the empowerment of children. Commercially, Kalen works on branded content and ads for medical companies, fintech, and fashion and lifestyle brands. Prior to filmmaking, Kalen was a creative director for major fashion brands, winning the Clio with the Ralph Lauren interactive team. After her mother was diagnosed with cancer, Kalen took a strong interest in the medical world. Currently, Kalen is working on her first feature-length documentary, Our Forever Home, which brings awareness to the long-term care of children without forever homes. This is Kalen's first long-form film, requiring her to wear many hats from producer, director, DP, to editor. This visually beautiful film explores tough questions about family and what makes a relationship work. Also, Kalen is working as a DP on a series of films that continues the legacy of civil rights.
