Vanessa Castillo and my passion is visual storytelling. Visual storytelling is a fancy term for documenting life in a journalistic way. I tell multimedia stories; through photography and video. Creatively editing stories together that inspire and impact the personal lives of people I’m working with, and those watching. A little fun fact about me is that, I was a competitive all star cheerleader for 15 years. This wasn’t your ordinary high school rah rah cheerleading, this was downright for the big dogs, and we had to know every meaning of the word teamwork. That interactive teamwork propelled me into the team member I am today. Im most excited when im depicting peoples lives and experiences through the journalistic style of visual story-telling, where others feel closer to it. Showing authenticity helps the audience relate to these stories and creates a greater sense of community. I strive to be that top of mind creative, people think of when they want their stories told.

This video was created to show how art is a form of communication, and even the visually impaired can communicate through art forms. A wide range of classes and activities designed for life enrichment are available at Miami Lighthouse for Blind. These programs encourage the clients to remain active in the community through field trips, exercise classes, arts and crafts, and other areas of interest
The bells rings! Its time to get to "Broward Talks", a photo/video essay that showcases the unique and diverse perspectives of today's Broward Students. Through the lens of 'courageous conversations' Broward Talks challenged nine students in grades 6-8 to raise their voices, be heard, and have insightful conversations about how diversity impacts their world - today.
