Pearl J. Park is an award-winning filmmaker with more than 20 years of multimedia production experience in journalism, corporate production, nonprofit communications, and documentary filmmaking. She is currently a member of the Asian American Journalists Association-Asia Chapter, a former member of New York Women in Film and Television (NYWIFT.org), and an executive committee member of Asian American Women Media Makers. As a multimedia professional with more than a decade of experience in corporate communications for Fortune 100 companies, she is particularly passionate about harnessing the power of mass media to highlight important civil and human rights issues. Currently, she is a member of the New Jersey Advisory Committee for the United States Commission on Civil Rights (usccr.gov) and an adjunct professor of communication design at the Fashion Institute of Technology, a State University of New York.
Democracy Prep is a charter school modeled after the Korean education system, based in Harlem, New York, U.S.A. which is attended mostly by African American and Latinx students. One unique aspect of Democracy Prep High School is that all students are required to take classes in Korean language and culture.
