I'm a New Zealand based journalist whose work has appeared in the International New York Times, the Guardian, the Sydney Morning Herald and National Geographic Traveller. I have worked in Africa, Indonesia, East Timor, Italy and India and covering everything from food crises and peacekeeping to the Venice Bienale and cricketing. I was a finalist for the Senior Feature Writer of the Year at the 2012 Canon Media Awards and won the 2014 award for Innovation in Multimedia Storytelling for Lost in the Long White Cloud – an interactive longform project. I won Junior Reporter of the Year in 2011 and was a finalist in the Junior Feature Writer categories in both 2010 and 2011. I was named Cathay Pacific Travel Writer of the Year in 2012.
