Lebanon-based Dalia Khamissy is a Lebanese-born photographer who is interested in the Middle East’s socio-political stories. In 2005 she works for the Associated Press as photo editor in its Beirut office. She quits end of 2006, after the Israeli aggression on Lebanon, and focuses her lens on the aftermath of Lebanon’s wars and their impact on people. In 2010 she starts her ongoing project "Missing of Lebanon", photographing the families of the estimated 17,000 missing of Lebanon’s 1975-90 civil war. In 2011, she covers for years the aftermath of the war in Syria, specifically the lives of refugees in Lebanon and Jordan for different newspapers and INGOs. She is currently working on the aftermath of the 4 August, 2020, Beirut blast. Her pictures have been exhibited widely in Europe, South America, US and the MENA region. She is published in local and international publications (Le Monde, le Figaro, the Guardian, NYT, FT, WSJ, the WashPost, Economist...) as well as different INGOs.
