Tinisha Brugnone, founder of the Cinematic Griot Collective, is an award-winning Director/Producer/Screenwriter from Detroit, Michigan. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in "Media Arts and Studies" from Wayne State University with a concentration in Production. ​ While a student at Wayne State University, she joined The Michigan Creative Film Alliance (the MiCFA), a collaborative effort between students and alumni of Wayne State University, the University of Michigan and, Michigan State University. ​ During her first production with the MiCFA, she served as Co-Producer and Unit Production Manager on the short film "Beauty Queen". Later that year "Beauty Queen" went on to win a Bronze Award at The Blue Water Film Festival (2012) and a Bronze Plaque Award at the Columbia International Film Festival (2012). Her second production with the MiCFA, the short film “Downriver”, won a total of six awards including the Silver Award at the Blue Water Film Festival (2013) and Best Cinematography at the prestigious Uptown Film Festival (2013). Upon graduation from Wayne State University, Ms. Brugnone began focusing on writing and storytelling. In late 2015 her screenplay “Top Shelf” was chosen out of 150 applicants, to be one of 12 screenplays included in the Inaugural "Detroit Sundance Writing Intensive Workshop” under the instruction of filmmaker Joan Tewkesbury. In 2018 she launched The Cinematic Griot Collective a collective of filmmakers, artists, and other creatives. Through her collective, she formed relationships with like-minded individuals who are dedicated to giving a voice to underrepresented groups. Ms. Brugnone then launched her first project and pilot event, with the assistance of the C.G.C “Idlewild International Film Festival" in the summer of 2019. The event attracted diverse film enthusiasts with people traveling from as far as Washington, DC to Michigan, and received rave reviews. In 2020, Ms. Brugnone opted to cancel the Idlewild International Film Festival due to the current pandemic and to concentrate on writing and freelance production work. Tinisha is currently an active member of "Final Girls Detroit a collective of women filmmakers working and living in Metro Detroit and Brown Girls Doc Mafia (BGDM)a collective of women and non-binary filmmakers and industry representatives of color. ​

I am a Chicago-based producer, DP, and director for TV, commercial, and video production. I've owned and operated an award-winning, full-service production company, Digital Hydra, since 2011, serving clients like Nike, Leo Burnett, Taste Made, Walgreens-Coca-Cola, ComEd, Jaegermeister, and many more. I've also worked as a DP for A-list music artists like Jennifer Hudson, Billie Eilish, Run the Jewels, and the Chance the Rapper. Founded in 2019 by Rachel Pikelny, Nyla Pictures crafts compelling, nonfiction media in the form of branded content, cause-marketing videos, and original documentaries. An Emmy Award-winning filmmaker recently named to DOC NYC's "40 Under 40" List, Rachel is a sought-after producer whose work has earned accolades and sparked impact, at venues ranging from the Tribeca Film Festival to Capitol Hill. With Kartemquin Films, she produced The Trials of Muhammad Ali (Independent Lens, 2014), which won a national Emmy for Best Historical Long-Form Program, and associate produced A Good Man (American Masters, 2011). Razi Jafri is a Detroit-based multimedia journalist, documentary photographer and filmmaker whose work focuses on ethnicity, religion, culture, immigration, democracy, and the changing cultural landscape in America. His current projects include a documentary film called Hamtramck, USA which explores democracy in a small industrial town in the American midwest. Another film called Loyalty, which follows the story of three Muslim chaplains in the US military. He is also currently working on a long term documentary photography project called "Halal Metropolis" which explores Muslim visibility and identity in Southeast Michigan. The work is part of an interdisciplinary exhibition series by the same name that is currently being shown and scheduled to show at multiple sites and galleries across the Metro Detroit region. Razi attended the University of Michigan-Dearborn, and received a Bachelor's degree in engineering and worked as an engineer for many years but made a major career change to pursue documentary work and journalism. Razi's work has been featured in National Geographic, National Public Radio, the Detroit Free Press and Michigan Radio. He was previously a fellow in the Documenting Detroit Fellowship in documentary photography and photojournalism. Most recently he was named a member of the New York Foundation for the Arts Immigrants Artists Mentorship Program.
