The foundation started out in 2005 by setting up an elephant camp to rescue Thailand’s captive street elephants. As the foundation has grown, it’s become involved with several ‘bigger picture’ projects, including research into elephant behavior and wild elephant conservation.
The Princess Sirindhorn Craniofacial Centre provides treatment, primarily to children, who are affected by facial disfigurements. Located in the Chulalongkorn Hospital in Bangkok, it operates under the leadership of 2 highly noted Craniofacial Surgeons, Dr Charan and Dr Nond. When it opened, it was the first of its kind in Southeast Asia for treating these conditions.
