Umarell - Commercial Film
Umarell is a filmic portrait of Thessaloniki, Greece-based frame builder, Christos. The film shows the welding processes involved in the craft of steel bicycle frame building. Historically the most common material for the tubes of a bicycle frame has been steel. The steel tubes are fitted into the lugs, which encircle the end of the tube, and then brazed to the lug. The lower temperatures associated with silver brazing had less of a negative impact on the tubing strength than high temperature welding, allowing relatively light tube to be used without loss of strength. Christos keeps the tradition and creates unique pieces for his customers.
