Only The Wealthy Could Eat This Intricate Japanese Sweet. Now It's A National Delicacy
I have produced videos for Business Insider's News and Documentary team for the show Still Standing. This series showcases the preservation of ancient crafts, traditions, and food, while giving recognition to the individuals who uphold them. This video is about how Japanese desserts/Wagashi are traditionally made at Kameyakiyonaga, a confectionery shop in Kyoto, Japan that has been making sweets since 1617. Today, it's run by the 17th-generation owner, Maegawa Kiyoaki. The shop specializes in kyogashi, a type of wagashi only made in Japan's ancient capital, Kyoto.
