    About Sonia N.

I'm a Southern California-based video journalist who produces, shoots, and edits stories for BBC News, PRI's The World, The New York Times, TIME, PBS, and others. My video stories have taken me around the world, and I've worked extensively across Asia. I've produced and filmed video stories about camel traders in India, cat cafes in Japan, and a child goddess in Nepal. I previously worked as a video journalist for NBC News in New York City. It was there that I found my quirkiest, and most fun video story ever: a circus sideshow school in Coney Island (I learned fire-breathing isn't as hard as it looks!) I studied journalism and documentary filmmaking at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism.

I look for stories that are off the beaten path that elucidate the human experience. From investigative journalism to music videos, I let the story take me on adventures I could never have imagined myself. The name Selva City (selva is Jungle in Spanish) comes from experiencing Urban jungles across the US, Europe, Africa, The Caribbean and Latin America. I've produced and directed stories for VICE Media, ESPN Deportes, ABC, HBO and a bunch of online properties. In addition to producing and directing, I shoot, write, edit and am comfortable in front of the camera. I'm certified in hostility training, first aid and first response. If it involves travel, foreign languages, and anything related to Culture, politics, music, sports, cute animals or has major historical implications, I'm in. I'd love to help you tell your next story.

Josh directed videos to help Tom win the DNC Chair race. Josh also was the Digital Video Director for the DNC Convention in Philly– which until helping a lot of campaigns win in Virginia this November, was also the last time he felt truly happy. Josh’s commitment to telling the narrative of the field has taken him to 47 states. He hopes you can help him get to the final three, and you’re welcome to guess what they are. Josh is just your run-of-the-mill Asian Jew from Tulsa, OK. He produced digital content for both Obama campaigns and was part of the initial team at Tom Steyer’s NextGen Climate/America/Everything. As Content Director, he traveled the path of the Keystone XL pipeline and told the plight of people across America affected by climate issues. After producing content for 7 races in the 2014 midterms, he took time off from face-punching climate deniers to conceive and carry out a citizen-empowering documentary on rising sea levels in the Maldives. This Bourdain-style travel series focuses on the human face of climate change around the world. LAST GLIMPSE has screened at conferences, universities, and Soho Houses across the U.S. PBS has expressed serious interest in running a full season – the whole experience has been very awesome. Josh usually doesn’t write in the 3rd person, so he tries to have fun with it. And honestly, would you prefer some stock LinkedIn dribble? Josh has produced work shared by National Geographic, The New York Times, TIME, Variety, The Washington Post, @BarackObama, @HillaryClinton, the Crooked Media guys – and a lot of other people that tweet better than the sitting President.
