About

Born in 1996 in the island of Puerto Rico, Natasha Cánepa always had an active mind when it comes to art from doodling in her notebooks to drawing/painting in her art class. With the drive to become an artist, she pursued a bachelor's degree in Animation in 2014 at Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia. During her time there, she would expand on her skillset through several aspects of production like storyboarding, character animation and post-production, inspiring her to take on multiple projects including her own student shorts with her third-year film “Ready to Fight” and her personal project “Lay Your Hands on Me”, an abstract animation with Boom Boom Satellites’s namesake song as its main theme. Her college path was soon topped with her senior film “Magic Play”, a project made by a small team of students, which was recognized by both SCAD and over a hundred festivals around the world including Puerto Rico’s LUSCA Fantastic Film Fest where it would earn the award for Best Local Animation. Today, she is working as an independent artist with her one-woman studio, Natasha Cánepa Animation Studios, offering multiple services in animation production along with leading the brand Forever Boricua which covers her traditional hand painted works inspired by the vibrant lifestyle of her island. Her client work ranges from advertising to educational material through businesses including Invision and Creator Up with each one being taken care of with highest regards to quality. Meanwhile, her production work can be recently seen in the short film “Metro6” as Writer, Storyboard Artist and 2D Effects Animator, Min Micglaugh’s All Nighter Survival Guide as Storyboard Artist and in her next short, “Place to Place”, a project that was primarily made during quarantine in 2020. Outside of work, she would connect with young artists on social media and regularly help them with sharing their art and her advice in developing their brand in the digital age.
