A passionate storyteller, traveler and filmmaker, Leslie Askew has been producing and directing television for nearly 20 years. She started her career in New York producing documentary series for major television networks such as; The History Channel, Bravo, The Weather Channel and PBS. For nearly 4 years, she was a producer on the award winning documentary series, CNN Heroes. In 2010, Leslie left the U.S. and moved to Amsterdam to start her own production company, Askew Pictures, and oversaw the production of a short film, Sisters for Somalia, for Al Jazeera. Since moving to Australia 5 years ago, she has produced a film for ITN, in the UK, and a mix of lifestyle/travel, television commercials and brand content for networks and online.

Of the 40+ stories I produced for CNN Heroes, Dr. Andy Moore was one of my favourites. He was born into a family of physicians and taught that health care was not a privilege, but a right for all. Dr. Moore founded an organisation where volunteer health care professionals provide care to uninsured individuals.
