Camogie is the oldest women’s sport in Ireland, a brutal combination of field hockey, soccer and rugby. The Hoboken Guards is the first camogie team in metropolitan New York in nearly 20 years. After a year of Tuesday-evening practices in Hoboken, a fledgling group of Irish women expanded to 55 registered members in matching skorts and jerseys—with a championship trophy.
