Hi, I'm Gabriel Garcia Rosa a Director of Photography that is based in New York City with more than eleven years of experience in TV production, documentaries, narratives, and music videos. Director of Photography for the Emmy nominated television documentary series called “My Town, Chinatown”. I have produced and directed several documentaries, short films, commercials as well as TV shows (and loved every aspect of it). I aim to create work that provokes emotion through composition and lighting. I employ new techniques to convey the aesthetic in my work. I am inspired by the works of Fan Ho, Saul Leiter, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Steve McCurry, Christopher Doyle, and Mark Lee Pingbing. I find the aesthetics of these artists motivate me.
Wing on Wo, the oldest porcelain ware store in New York Chinatown since 1925. We talked to the 5th generation owner in training Mei Lum, to see how she is taking over the operation and re-envisions the store as a community space in a gentrifying Chinatown.
Ang Lee is providing audiences with a whole new experience with his latest work “Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk.” The film was shot in 4K native 3D at the ultra high rate of 120 frames-per-second. It was screened for the first time at NYFF at AMC Lincoln Square. Using the latest technology, Lee hopes to give audiences a deeper look at the story and its characters.
On September 17th, one of China’s most influential music festivals “Modern Sky Festival” returned to NYC’s Governor’s Island. The music ranged from folk to metal, rock to pop and electronic.
