This video was one of a two-part series examining the role of code enforcement in development and gentrification. In this part, I tagged along with a code enforcement officer for a typical day to get an up-close look at the process. I used that as a frame to dig deeper into the issues that surfaced throughout the day and to zoom out for a macro view on code enforcement.

Hawaii, and especially Honolulu, has faced increasing homelessness for years. Last year, it increased yet again, despite efforts from the governor and the mayor to combat that issue. As a data intern, I wanted to find a way to make data easily consumable but engaging to an audience that has read about this issue time and time again. I produced this video in Adobe After Effects.

For this video, we wanted to create a condense, more easily consumable version of a story that the host had written about the pitfalls of 911 and how the service fails to be accessible for those who are deaf or hearing impaired. I lead all aspects of production from the script to post-production and developing the motion graphics.
