Halo Dance Battle
Setup - Microsoft was planning a livestream launch event to build excitement around their biggest gaming release of the year, Halo 5. They wanted an entertaining, short form piece of content that would help keep audience energy/retention up between longer interview segments. Strategy - With music being such an iconic part of the Halo franchise and given the broad audience tuning into the livestream event, we chose to create something musically driven to offer the audience a fun reprieve from all the information they would be ingesting. - Bulky, militaristic sci-fi armor is another iconic aspect of Halo, so we worked with the world’s most prominent Halo cosplay organization to bring the Spartan armor suits to life for our video. Solution - We created the “Halo 5 Dance Battle” short which spun the series’ famous Red vs. Blue multiplayer dynamic on its head by having the two teams engage in a dance battle set to a remixed track of Halo’s iconic theme song. - Microsoft and the livestream audience loved the short. We were later able to upload it to The Warp Zone youtube channel where it garnered nearly a million additional views and very positive audience response.
