About Laurence
Laurence is a freelance multimedia journalist, producer and engagement consultant based in Berlin. He has worked on a wide variety of stories and media projects including; managing a team of over 30 journalists covering the Nigerian national elections; the creation of “Dementia Diaries” – a national series of audio diaries documenting the day-to-day lives of people living with dementia; and award-winning coverage of the Ebola crisis in Sierra Leone. Laurence specialises in creating more inclusive and ethical media environments. Laurence’s stories and contributions have featured online (the Guardian, Le Parisien, the Mirror) in print (New Internationalist, Der Spiegel), on the radio (CBC, BBC World Service) and on television (BBC World News TV & Channel 4 News). Laurence holds an MA in Global Digital Cultures and International Development from SOAS, University of London.

I researched, produced and directed this four-part graphic novel series in which four women in Sierra Leone share their stories of birth, hardship and survival in a country where becoming pregnant means risking death. Published by Al Jazeera Digital.
