I’m an award-winning producer-director with 25 years experience making documentaries, entertainment shows and short videos for non-profit groups like Amnesty International. I was senior producer-director of long form programs at MTV for 5 years. After leaving MTV I produced 3 films for director Michael Apted: “The Long Way Home,” about Russian rocker Boris Grebenshikov’s odyssey to the West, and “Married In America” 1 & 2, an ongoing doc about 9 couples wed in 2001. I also produced-directed “Vis à Vis,” the innovative, interactive PBS doc series. Among my other productions are “The Furious Force Of Rhymes,” a global look at hip-hop as protest music, and “Sarabah,” about Senegalese rapper Sister Fa’s campaign to end female genital cutting. My work has received an IDA Documentary Achievement award, 3 Cine Golden Eagles, the Special Jury Award from the Locarno Film Festival & the Golden Butterfly from Movies That Matter.

This short video is part of a series I produced for the International Development Law Organization about sustainable development and the rule of law in the developing world, as seen through the eyes of 5 renowned photographers. It focuses on energy poverty in the slums of Nairobi, documented by Kabir Dhanji. The series premiered March 2015 at the UN in Geneva.

"Sarabah" is an award-winning documentary about Senegalese rapper Sister Fa and her grassroots campaign to end female genital cutting in her homeland. I developed, produced and executive produced it. "Sarabah" has won multiple awards, including best film at the prestigious Movies That Matter festival.

"The Secret Words" is a mini-doc about outspoken Bangladeshi singer-songwriter Anusheh Anadil. It's part of a series I produced about groundbreaking artist/activists in the Muslim world under a grant from the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art. For this episode I recruited famed Indian director Q, and supervised the production.

"The Price of Silence" is a music video I developed & produced for Amnesty International to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It features Laurence Fishburne and 16 great musicians - some of them refugees - who we filmed green screen around the world and effected on to the UN General Assembly stage.
