As the Creative Content Producer for Summits Education, I produce short documentaries throughout the Central Plateau. This story follows Richard, a 12-year-old who has been supporting himself since his parents died, determined to get an education.

There is a specific school called Matenwa School in Lagonav. The school in Lagonav creates their own "mother tongue" textbooks and materials rather than using French as the language for instruction. Haiti is one of the only countries to do this. "The Matenwa students’ Creole reading skills are almost three times the average score for 84 mainland schools tested by the World Bank."
The fall campaign for the NGO Summits Education in Haiti was a three-part series that focused on featuring a student, teacher and community that has been transformed by education.
