This video was produced for Golem.de. Tinkerbots is a German company that develops toys for kids with an interest in technology and programming. By approaching technology in a playful way, the company hopes to make it more accessible.
The joint research project by NASA and DRL spent some time in Hamburg at the hangar of Lufthansa Technik, where the whole interior got an overhaul. SOFIA is a flying telescope that makes possible a better look what's outside the earth's atmosphere by flying at high altitude of up to 14 km while using the microscope that is housed in the aircrafts hull.
