Tinisha Brugnone, founder of the Cinematic Griot Collective, is an award-winning Director/Producer/Screenwriter from Detroit, Michigan. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in "Media Arts and Studies" from Wayne State University with a concentration in Production. ​ While a student at Wayne State University, she joined The Michigan Creative Film Alliance (the MiCFA), a collaborative effort between students and alumni of Wayne State University, the University of Michigan and, Michigan State University. ​ During her first production with the MiCFA, she served as Co-Producer and Unit Production Manager on the short film "Beauty Queen". Later that year "Beauty Queen" went on to win a Bronze Award at The Blue Water Film Festival (2012) and a Bronze Plaque Award at the Columbia International Film Festival (2012). Her second production with the MiCFA, the short film “Downriver”, won a total of six awards including the Silver Award at the Blue Water Film Festival (2013) and Best Cinematography at the prestigious Uptown Film Festival (2013). Upon graduation from Wayne State University, Ms. Brugnone began focusing on writing and storytelling. In late 2015 her screenplay “Top Shelf” was chosen out of 150 applicants, to be one of 12 screenplays included in the Inaugural "Detroit Sundance Writing Intensive Workshop” under the instruction of filmmaker Joan Tewkesbury. In 2018 she launched The Cinematic Griot Collective a collective of filmmakers, artists, and other creatives. Through her collective, she formed relationships with like-minded individuals who are dedicated to giving a voice to underrepresented groups. Ms. Brugnone then launched her first project and pilot event, with the assistance of the C.G.C “Idlewild International Film Festival" in the summer of 2019. The event attracted diverse film enthusiasts with people traveling from as far as Washington, DC to Michigan, and received rave reviews. In 2020, Ms. Brugnone opted to cancel the Idlewild International Film Festival due to the current pandemic and to concentrate on writing and freelance production work. Tinisha is currently an active member of "Final Girls Detroit a collective of women filmmakers working and living in Metro Detroit and Brown Girls Doc Mafia (BGDM)a collective of women and non-binary filmmakers and industry representatives of color. ​

Juan Freitez is an internationally acclaimed visual storyteller, video journalist and filmmaker. His work has been featured by national and international outlets such as NBC News, National Public Radio (NPR), Public Radio International (PRI), The American Public Health Association, The National Journal, Netroots Nation, and The Huffington Post. He founded Community Grassroots Media - a full service video production company - to bring to light the stories of mission-driven organizations, capturing their essence and amplifying their impact. His first feature-length documentary, HEALTH UNDOCUMENTED (SALUD SIN PAPELES), awarded Freitez several international accolades and screened at national and international film festivals and impact conferences. The film has been translated into multiple languages including Spanish, French, Hindi and Malay. It has also been acquired by many libraries and universities for incorporation into their curricula. Freitez has been hosted as a guest speaker by renowned universities, including Stanford, NYU, Georgetown, and UCSD to present his work and lead discussions about the communities and topics documented in his films. He is currently based in Ann Arbor, Michigan where he remains dedicated to fostering his various local and cultural communities. I am a Peabody Award-winning Director of Photography focused on news and documentary. I am comfortable shooting solo or with a crew, and no assignment is too big or too small. Silas Hite is an Emmy-winning composer with music in his DNA. Before becoming a freelance composer, he began his career co-scoring blockbuster and independent films such as Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs and Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist with his uncle, noted composer Mark Mothersbaugh (DEVO). His music can also be heard in television shows around the world, from kids shows like Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get A Clue!, Disney’s Dance-A-Lot Robot, and PIXAR’s Mater’s Tall Tales to adult shows such as Chef's Table (Netflix) and Abused by the Police (BBC). He has scored hundreds of commercials for clients such as Apple, McDonalds, and Chevy, earning him an Emmy, Adweek's Campaign of the Decade, and most recently a Titanium Grand Prix from Cannes.
