3 reviewsI’m a bilingual freelance journalist and translator currently based in Central America. My work focuses on human rights, gender and transitional justice and has appeared in Newsweek en Español, The Boston Globe, Foreign Policy, The Economist Intelligence Unit, Al Jazeera, Christian Science Monitor, Americas Quarterly, Latinamerica Press, The International Justice Tribune, Womens’ e News and Inter-Press Service. I have also worked as an editor for the Investigative Reporting Initiative in the Americas, a project supported by the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ). In 2013, I won the Gold Standard Award for Excellence in Economics and Business Journalism for an article on inclusive and sustainable corporate models published by Estrategia&Negocios magazine. Throughout my career I have been awarded a number of journalism fellowships, including the International Women’s Media Foundation’s Elizabeth Neuffer Fellowship in 2014-2015. During this seven-month fellowship I took courses at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard, I wrote a guest column for The Boston Globe and I worked with the New York Times immigration reporter, covering stories about the Latino community. In 2017, I was competitively selected as one of the World Press Institute fellows and spent three months in the U.S., interviewing media professionals and policymakers on key issues such as climate change, nuclear security and fake news. My extensive travel experience in Latin America includes covering the 2013 Summit of the Pacific Alliance in Cali, Colombia, and the Pope’s visit to Mexico in 2016. In 2017, I was also selected as one of the IWMF Adelante Reporting Fellows and after undertaking Hostile Environment and First Aid Training (HEFAT), I traveled to Choco, Colombia, to report on population displacement and sexual violence.
