Tinisha Brugnone, founder of the Cinematic Griot Collective, is an award-winning Director/Producer/Screenwriter from Detroit, Michigan. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in "Media Arts and Studies" from Wayne State University with a concentration in Production. ​ While a student at Wayne State University, she joined The Michigan Creative Film Alliance (the MiCFA), a collaborative effort between students and alumni of Wayne State University, the University of Michigan and, Michigan State University. ​ During her first production with the MiCFA, she served as Co-Producer and Unit Production Manager on the short film "Beauty Queen". Later that year "Beauty Queen" went on to win a Bronze Award at The Blue Water Film Festival (2012) and a Bronze Plaque Award at the Columbia International Film Festival (2012). Her second production with the MiCFA, the short film “Downriver”, won a total of six awards including the Silver Award at the Blue Water Film Festival (2013) and Best Cinematography at the prestigious Uptown Film Festival (2013). Upon graduation from Wayne State University, Ms. Brugnone began focusing on writing and storytelling. In late 2015 her screenplay “Top Shelf” was chosen out of 150 applicants, to be one of 12 screenplays included in the Inaugural "Detroit Sundance Writing Intensive Workshop” under the instruction of filmmaker Joan Tewkesbury. In 2018 she launched The Cinematic Griot Collective a collective of filmmakers, artists, and other creatives. Through her collective, she formed relationships with like-minded individuals who are dedicated to giving a voice to underrepresented groups. Ms. Brugnone then launched her first project and pilot event, with the assistance of the C.G.C “Idlewild International Film Festival" in the summer of 2019. The event attracted diverse film enthusiasts with people traveling from as far as Washington, DC to Michigan, and received rave reviews. In 2020, Ms. Brugnone opted to cancel the Idlewild International Film Festival due to the current pandemic and to concentrate on writing and freelance production work. Tinisha is currently an active member of "Final Girls Detroit a collective of women filmmakers working and living in Metro Detroit and Brown Girls Doc Mafia (BGDM)a collective of women and non-binary filmmakers and industry representatives of color. ​

I'm a cinematographer, doc filmmaker and founder of Hard Road Pictures, a small production company with a documentary focus. We produce independent documentaries and mini-docs for media outlets, non-profits, and commercial clients. Our recent projects include the production of a TIME 100 video featuring a New Orleans-based educator reflecting on education in New Orleans ten years after Katrina, and the documentary "Invisible Curriculum" which explores the global youth employment crisis. We work with small crews, typically 1-3 people, and are equipped with all the tools (Sony FS7, A7SII, pro audio) to capture stories beautifully.

I hold an M.A. in Documentary Photography from Ohio University and a B.S. in Journalism from Boston University. I focus on social issues, politics, breaking news and climate change. I wholeheartedly believe that everyone is made a bit better when we have the opportunity to connect to unfamiliar people, places, cultures and topics. Juan Freitez is an internationally acclaimed visual storyteller, video journalist and filmmaker. His work has been featured by national and international outlets such as NBC News, National Public Radio (NPR), Public Radio International (PRI), The American Public Health Association, The National Journal, Netroots Nation, and The Huffington Post. He founded Community Grassroots Media - a full service video production company - to bring to light the stories of mission-driven organizations, capturing their essence and amplifying their impact. His first feature-length documentary, HEALTH UNDOCUMENTED (SALUD SIN PAPELES), awarded Freitez several international accolades and screened at national and international film festivals and impact conferences. The film has been translated into multiple languages including Spanish, French, Hindi and Malay. It has also been acquired by many libraries and universities for incorporation into their curricula. Freitez has been hosted as a guest speaker by renowned universities, including Stanford, NYU, Georgetown, and UCSD to present his work and lead discussions about the communities and topics documented in his films. He is currently based in Ann Arbor, Michigan where he remains dedicated to fostering his various local and cultural communities. Outside of running his production company and freelancing, Freitez enjoys being enveloped by the hugs and giggles of his two young daughters and being reminded of what the world looks like through the lens of a child.

Josh Chitwood was born in Indiana in 1994 and was raised in a small southern Illinois town. As a transplant family from Indianapolis, and with Syrian-Lebanese roots, his family did not fit the mold of this rural town. Filmmaking and the creative process became his outlet at an early age. Throughout high school, Josh began developing his craft by making skate films, short documentaries and videos for his parent's church. In 2012, Josh moved from Illinois to Minnesota where he met his wife, Morgan. In 2014, Josh and Morgan started a film company called Chitwood Media. The heart of their work is to create films that cultivate inspiration, expand perspective, empower community and affirm hope. Their films reflect the unique creativity ingrained in each individual that goes beyond mimicking the popular. The themes of their storytelling and cinematography challenge misconception, reveal beauty, and reflect their personal faith. In October of 2021, the two relocated their business from Minneapolis to Indianapolis. In his free time, Josh enjoys spending time in his home and community with Morgan and their three sons, Marquelle, Reggie and Tony.

I am a Peabody Award-winning Director of Photography focused on news and documentary. I am comfortable shooting solo or with a crew, and no assignment is too big or too small. I was the senior DOP of VICE News' viral documentary, "Charlottesville: Race and Terror", which has been viewed more than 65 million times and was hailed by TIME as the best TV episode of 2017. I have more than 20 years of journalism experience around the globe. When not filming, I train daily in Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiujitsu and MMA, and can double as crew security. My ultimate goal is to teach martial arts.

I have loved every kind of media since I was young. Movies, TV Shows, Video Games, Music, I ate it all up like a hungry man at an all-you-can-eat buffet. I am fascinated with the way stories can evoke reactions from people. Everything from laughter, to sadness, to fear, to anger, can be brought out by something that someone is watching and all I want to do is create things that bring these emotions to the surface. I pride myself on having a unique sense of style and flavor that will make people say "Wow, never seen that before". I strive every day to create my own voice to separate my works from the rest of the crowd and am always looking for feedback from superiors and co-workers alike so that I can make my works the best they can be. I am big on taking criticism as I believe the only way to get better is to be told what is and what isn't working. I have a lot of experience editing video and sound for various projects and have written many scripts that have received much praise. Silas Hite is an Emmy-winning composer with music in his DNA. Before becoming a freelance composer, he began his career co-scoring blockbuster and independent films such as Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs and Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist with his uncle, noted composer Mark Mothersbaugh (DEVO).
