I started out as an assistant producer then an assistant editor. Soon enough I started to edit and became a freelance editor. At ESPN Brazil I had the opportunity to also start shooting. So I would work as a video reporter covering mainly two wheel action sports and then edit what I shot into a 26' television show. Then I went to TV Globo and also worked as a video reporter for one of the country's most critically acclaimed news program. I've received a Líbero Badaró journalism award and also worked at the show's International Emmy nominated episode. I also wanted to work on a fictional show and so I worked as an assistant director at O2 production Company for HBO Brazil drama series "Psi". After that I was hired to be a content producer at Opa! Production Company for the "We All Love Beer"project. A branded content page that featured 48 videos about the world of beer for Globo.com and AMBEV. Now I work as a freelance visual storyteller.

I'm from Toronto, with the ability to produce video and photo content. I studied television broadcasting and photojournalism in two separate college courses over the last ten years, and have been freelancing since 2010. Since then, I've served clients from the international news wire to individuals and everything in-between. I'm a seasoned traveler, having been on five continents. I relish new opportunities for learning to satisfy a curious mind, and always enjoy working with people of diverse backgrounds. My passport is current and I'm happy to travel for work. I speak five languages with varying aptitude, and can say "hi" in at least a dozen more. While my video work isn't yet integrated into my website, you can find short examples of local news-feature content I've created on my Vimeo page at https://vimeo.com/giofotoimg Thanks for checking out my profile, I look forward to creating attractive visuals to engage your viewers and tell unique stories.

Supreet Jayanna Bargi is an independent award-winning Director of Photography based in Toronto/Guelph, ON, Canada. He regularly covers news and documentary in South Asia for international media outlets, such as VICE News, Al-Jazeera and BBC. His work includes political conflict, humanitarian crises, human rights, and migration in the region. Most recently, Supreet’s work for VICE News Showtime won a duPont-Columbia award and two Emmy nomination in 2021 & 2022. A self-taught photographer, Supreet has been working with the moving image, combining film with photography since 2011. In addition to freelancing as the Director of Photography (DOP) for international and national news agencies, government bodies, non-governmental organizations, corporate marketing, and PR teams, he is also an established documentary street, culture and adventure photographer. A representative list of publications and clients where his work has been featured and exhibited can be found here. Supreet’s journey as a photographer began with exploring the verdant forests of Nilgiris and soaking in the rich culture of Mysore, his home, famously depicted in R.K Narayan’s folklore stories. He experimented at home with technology and the art of film. Finding himself flourishing at the intersection of technology, photography, art, and journalism, he trained as a mass communication graduate at one of India’s leading journalism schools, Manipal Institute of Communications. However, the pursuit of a perspective, aesthetic and technique informed by first-hand experiences, landed him in New Delhi, in the unconventional world of Pablo Bartholomew, a globally noted photojournalist. It was under him that he realized great photography results from a slew of intangibles - an ability to navigate oneself through situations, unfold them before they actually do and be prepared.

I'm a Somali-Canadian journalist based out of Toronto with an interest in refugee stories, human rights, Indigenous people, and international politics with a focus on East Africa and the Middle East. I've had experience as a producer and a reporter in both print and broadcast as well as current affairs and documentaries. I began my career with investigative stories, however I choose to be a journalist so that I can share the stories of underprivileged populations. I think that media often creates a dichotomy with "the West" and the rest of the world. What i love about the power of storytelling is the opportunity to show the similarities across cultures and build compassion and understanding.

For over 20 years I have worked in broadcast, film, and web productions. I started in IATSE film, then local and national news, went into kid's television, and now into docu-series and commercial work. My career has changed as my kids came into my life because I wanted to have time for them. In my opinion, spooky Halloween shows, murder mysteries and thrillers are as great as solid comedies. I used to run a sketch comedy troupe, so I love a good gag and well written turn-of-phrase in a script. I have had the great privilege to enjoy the company of many great people throughout my career and I look forward to continuing to do just that!
