I am a journalist who has worked with several local and international media agencies and channels since 2013. These include: CNN, Anadolu Agency, The New Arab, BBC, Smart News Agency, and Zaman al Wasl. My work includes photographs, albums, prepared written TV reports, and articles. My real name is Firas Aljazzar (in Turkish it is Firaz El Cezar). I changed my name to Qusay Noor in 2011 for my own safety when I began publishing pictures I took of the atrocities happening in Damascus, Syria. I lived with my family in Eastern Ghouta and I was working in nearby Damascus. As close as Eastern Ghouta was to Damascus, people there still didn't believe the stories of what was happening to innocent civilians at the hands of the Assad regime. I wanted friends in Eastern Ghouta to see and understand the truth, so I began sharing photos online, (under the name Qusay Noor), for them and the world to see. In August, 2013 the Assad regime attacked our city of Eastern Ghouta with the chemical gas, sarin, killing and injuring over 1400 civilians, many of them children. For over five years, we were bombed, attacked, and surrounded by Assad's soldiers who stopped food and medicine from coming in to us. In 2015 my father was killed by a bomb dropped on the mosque as he was inside praying. Most of our time was spent in basements being used as bomb shelters, praying we were not buried there to die in the rubble. In 2018 while under siege, there was another chemical attack in nearby Douma. Finally by an agreement made with the regime, the remaining people of Ghouta were transported by bus to Idlib. We remained there until the end of the year when we were able to travel to Istanbul, Turkey. All the while, I continued my work under the name Qusay Noor until recently when I felt it was safe to reveal my true name, Firas Aljazzar.

I am a producer & fixer based in Istanbul, Turkey with over 20 years experience in making TV programs, documentaries, branded content and promo videos. I started my career at CNN Turk which is the Turkish spoken branch of international TV network CNN. From economy to culture and art programs, from documentaries to live broadcasts, I gained experience in producing many different genres of television programs at CNN Turk. Later, I worked for other Turkish news channels like Haberturk and TV 360. Here, I also got the chance to be in front of the camera as a correspondent and host at some programs which I enjoyed a lot. At some point of my career, I decided to quit full time jobs at TV channels and started working freelance for production companies. I worked with famous Turkish director Tolga Örnek and I prepared behind the scene documentaries and promo videos of some of his docu-dramas and feature films. Then over the years, I worked for many other production companies where I produced documentaries some of which were shot abroad. My first job as a fixer dates back to 2014 when National Geographic photographer Raul Touzon contacted me to arrange his photography workshop in Istanbul. This job made me realize how much I enjoy working with people from various countries. So since then I mostly prefer working as a producer / fixer for international crews. I’ve worked with many different crews such as journalists, documentary producers and photographers and looking forward to working with more. If you are planning to shoot in Turkey, be it a documentary, a travel show, commercial, TV or a newspaper report or photography, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me. Due to Covid-19, if you don’t prefer to come to Turkey, I can follow your brief, hire the necessary crew and equipment and get the shoot done for you with the hightest production standards. As a master of capturing unforgettable scenes of time, I, a film director, have journeyed down this inspiring path for years. In the early days of my career, I walked the enchanting corridors of the advertising world as a producer and director. In 2014, I took my initial steps with the documentary "I Am Not an Apache." This creation was not just a documentary; it served as a mirror reflecting the intricacies of life and humanity. I dedicated myself to capturing the reflections in that mirror. Later on, in 2015, I wholeheartedly embraced the role of a director with the documentary "Chauffeur of Authority." It was a moment when I became enchanted by the allure of narrating stories behind the camera. While forging ahead on this path, I found myself under the umbrella of the Miki Film Collective. The dynamism and creativity within this collective further captivated me. In 2016, with "Kadıköy Bicycle," and in 2017, with "Billy," I captured life stories seeping through the urban fabric. During the same years, I initiated and sustained the "Get Off the Car, Get on the Bicycle" campaign through the Kinocycle Film Collective. This effort transitioned from the noise of cars to the rhythm of pedals. The wheel sounds of bicycles conveyed the rhythm of life with each pedaling motion. The roads led me to embark on a 10,000 km-long bicycle journey until 2022. Through my film "Cinatı: A Criticalmass," I depicted the rhythm of cities by capturing each rotation of the wheel. This journey from Istanbul to Tehran reinforced the significance of bearing witness and recording moments with each turn of the wheel. On this extensive journey, I ventured into the realm of Agriculture. In projects like "A Clean Farm: Organic and Beyond," "Sevinç Sister: Love Beyond Labor," and "Migration to the Countryside," I depicted moments of connecting with the soil, labor, and our roots. These films illuminated various festivals and met audiences. Between 2019 and 2023, through documentaries like "Urban Gardens," "Ode to Compost," and "Pedal Companion," I encapsulated the flourishing beauty of cities and the sprouting life embraced by the soil. In 2024, with projects like "SatChitAnana: Belgin Sister" and "Rejecting Anthropocene: Urban Agriculture," I will once again present to audiences the profound value of recording and bearing witness. Behind each film lies the enchantment of leaving meaningful traces within life's ephemeral nature, orchestrating scenes, and documenting life itself. As a witness to this magical world behind the camera, I will continue to tread this path.
