Kyle Merrit Ludowitz is a photojournalist specializing in international conflicts, humanitarian disasters, and war. Beginning in 2009, he traveled across the world to document, by photograph and dispatch, critical situations and the human condition in areas such as Israel/Palestine, Myanmar, Cambodia, Kashmir, Thailand, India, and Nepal. Featuring many crucial stories related to poverty, child welfare, military occupation, woman's rights, natural disasters, medical needs, and wounded individuals, his work is found in many publications from around the world. He currently resides in Oakland, California.
The Gulabi Gang/Pink Gang is a woman's liberation movement now boasting numbers near 40,000 woman in rural reaches of India's Banda district. clad in brilliant pink saris, these woman travel from village to village, training women in self-defense from domestic violence.
The Myanmar military struggles against nearly a dozen individual ethnic factions struggling for their own independent state. From these conflicts, many civilians have fled from in search of refuge, and medical aid. The Mae Tao clinic is one of the few clinics open to refugees along the border in Thailand, along with the Mae La camp - which holds a fluctuating population of 40,000-80,000 people.
Too often, journalists focus on one story - often narrowing their sights from other events going on around them. With this in mind, I set off across India's largest state, Uttar Pradesh, to document the many societal struggles of hunger, poverty, and the lack of medicines, clean drinking water and available schooling.
