About
I am an Oakland-based shooter/editor. Before moving to video in the mid-00's, I worked as a photo assistant and photographer for advertising and editorial where honed my lighting skills and technical camera knowledge. I have worked on projects ranging from independent feature films to short documentary series to corporate explainers. I was born in Singapore, transported to the Mid-Atlantic and grew up Chinese Minnesotan. Moved to the Bay Area as a lot of folks were heading the other direction. Fast friends, but not really much of a hugger. When not working (but not malfunctioning), you can sometimes find me playing music or riding my bike, but you're just as likely to find me on the couch reading or napping.

9-MAN uncovers an isolated and unique streetball tournament played by Chinese-Americans in the heart of Chinatowns across the USA and Canada. Largely undiscovered by the mainstream, the game is a gritty, athletic, chaotic urban treasure traditionally played in parking lots and back alleys and it is fiercely protected by a community of men who who require that 2/3 of players are “100% Chinese.”

The film features a mosaic of strangers bound together by their reliance on this system of Single Room Occupancy hotels to keep a roof over their heads and homelessness at bay.
