JUAN DAVID ROMERO is the director of “Unbroken Paradise” and “An Iraqi Belly Dancer.” The first one has played at festivals such as the 2018 Global Impact Film Festival in Washington D.C.; the 2018 Global Migration Film Festival organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the U.N. Migration Agency; and it will play at the 2019 Amnesty International Human Rights Film Festival in France. The latter has played at the 2018 East End Film Festival in London; Reeling: The 36th Chicago LGBTQ+ International Film Festival; the 7th Diaspora Film Festival in South Korea; and the 10th Kashish Mumbai Queer International Film Festival. Presently Juan David is based in Paris, where he works as a freelance video editor and journalist. Previously he volunteered at refugee camps and with refugee-aid organizations in France and Greece such as FEOX and ActForRef. Before that, he worked in Washington D.C. as communications officer at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Romero received his Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and a minor in Film from the University of Central Florida in 2015. He trained as a multimedia journalist via internships and workshops at newspapers and magazines such as The New Republic, the Orlando Business Journal, Science magazine, the Central Florida Future, and the Scripps Howard Foundation Hispanic Link News Service. He is also an alumni of the NAHJ/Knight Foundation Student Project initiative and the Newseum Institute’s Chips Quinn Scholars Program for Diversity in Journalism.
