Alex Pritz is an Emmy and Peabody Award-winning documentary filmmaker based in New York City. Recently, Alex directed The Territory, which premiered at Sundance 2022 where it won both the Audience Award and a Special Jury Award for Documentary Craft. The Territory was shortlisted for the 2023 Academy Awards, nominated for three Critics Choice awards, a Gotham Award, a Producers Guild Award, and a record seven Cinema Eye Honors where it won for Best Debut Feature. The Territory was named a NYT Critics Pick, and was acquired by National Geographic Documentary Films for a theatrical release in the United States, Canada, the UK, Brazil, Aotearoa/New Zealand, and the Netherlands. The film is now available globally on Disney+. Alex won an Emmy for his work as a cinematographer on the feature documentary The First Wave (dir. Matt Heineman). He was also a cinematographer and field producer on Jon Kasbe’s feature documentary, When Lambs Become Lions (Tribeca 2018), and a co-director, cinematographer, and editor on the documentary short, My Dear Kyrgyzstan (Atlanta 2019). Alex is a co-founder of Documist, and has received grants from the Sundance Institute, IDA Enterprise Fund, Catapult Fund, Doc Society, and was named a 2023 BAFTA Breakthrough Fellow. Alex holds a B.Sc. (Ag. & Env.) from McGill University where he studied Environmental Science and Philosophy. In 2012, he received an inaugural Dalai Lama Fellowship for his work developing film curriculums alongside low-income communities in the Philippines. I'm a freelance filmmaker and video journalist focused primarily on documentary projects. I'm currently picking up short-term gigs as a Freelance Producer, Editor, or Videographer while I work on a part-time commissioned short documentary based out of Nebraska. I most recently finished working on a project with production company Meerkat Media on a commission from Sesame Street in Communities. The project entails documentary-style educational videos about how to talk to kids about race and racism through observing real families in conversation with their children. Prior to delving into full-time freelance life, I worked as an Associate Producer on seven feature-length historic documentaries produced by CNN Specials as well as an observational film produced by HBO Max/CNN Films. Independently, with my production partner Sana A. Malik, I produced, shot, and edited the student BAFTA-award winning documentary, Guanajuato Norte. The film follows a migrant farmworker in Connecticut and his sacrifice of being away from his family to provide a better life for his children. The film went on to screen multiple film festivals and was acquired by The New Yorker’s Documentary Channel. I also co-directed the short film, Chief Standing Bear's Journey to Statuary Hall, for the Nebraska Commission on Indian Affairs with Judi gaiashkibos (co-director and EP.) Together, we made a film to be used as an educational resource, following the historical story of Ponca Chief Standing Bear and the modern-day journey of building a statue of his likeness to stand in the U.S. Capitol. In addition to working as a Director/Producer on commissioned short films and personal projects, I love helping established Director’s visions come to life as an Associate Producer, Editor, or Second Camera. I’m easily curious but particularly drawn toward stories about migration, family, social justice, and the meaning of home.

William Martin is a BAFTA nominated documentary filmmaker focused on gender inequality, immigration, queer rights, and climate change. He graduated in 2021 with a master's in journalism, with a focus on News and Documentary. He also has a bachelor of arts degree from NYU Tisch in photojournalism. With funding from the Fund for Investigative Journalism and as a migration fellow with the Ground Truth Project, William created a 30 minute documentary examining the Trump administration’s controversial choice to continue detaining asylum seekers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Celeste and Maria, two undocumented women, survived both COVID-19 and human rights abuses while detained at Otay Mesa ICE detention center in California. No Way, Which Way, was a BAFTA student film awards shortlist and was selected for the Toronto Women's International Film Festival. Most recently, William was awarded grants from BAFTA and the Fund for Investigative Journalism to explore how the U.S. Border Closure has impacted transgender asylum-seeking migrants in Mexico’s dangerous border cities in the midst of Covid-19. After two years, the short film, Sin Hogar (No Home), will be released this late Fall. Here's a preview of the content published with The New Humanitarian—selected for IQMF Amsterdam and Tulum WE film festivals. William was also a Great Big Story Genesis student fellow, one of four students globally awarded an opportunity to create a short film. His story, The Dolphins of Laguna, follows the fishermen of a small town in Southern Brazil who have been collaborating with dolphins for over 100 years to catch fish. Safico, 68 years-old, has been fishing with one particular dolphin, Caroba, for 45 years. Safico goes to great lengths to both protect and uphold the tradition of fishing with dolphins. With funding from National Geographic, his documentary, Daughters of Drought, investigated how Malawian women are impacted by climate change. The film won Best Short Documentary at the Toronto International Women Film Festival and will be published with WaterBear in August. His video journalism is currently featured in Time, Teen Vogue, The GroundTruth Project, BRIC Media, and Al Jazeera.

Ray Whitehouse (he/him) works at the intersection of documentary film and journalism. After growing up in Chicago, he lived in San Antonio, Texas, before moving to Washington, D.C. He works primarily as a director of photography. His feature-length directorial debut, A RUN FOR MORE, had its world premiere at Frameline in June 2022 and screened more than 30 festivals across the U.S. He served as the Second Unit DP on TO THE END, directed by Rachel Lears, which premiered at Sundance in 2022. BRING THEM HOME, a documentary short he co-directed and DP’d, premiered at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival in 2022. He was part of the Washington Post team that was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for reporting about the Capitol insurrection and its aftermath. He’s worked as a cinematographer on more than 20 documentary features and filmed, produced and edited projects for The New York Times, The Washington Post, TIME, and Univision, among others. He is community coordinator for the D.C. chapter of Video Consortium and a regional co-chair of the Documentary Producers Alliance. He holds an M.A. in documentary journalism from UNC Chapel Hill and a B.S. in journalism from Northwestern University. The core tenets of his practice are transparency, collaboration and critical reflexivity.

Enrique Huaiquil is a Chilean-American award-winning cinematographer, photojournalist, documentary photographer, video editor, and graphic artist based in Northern Virginia. He has covered a wide variety of issues, including the Central American caravans trying to cross the U.S.-Mexico border, the aftermath of the earthquake in Puerto Rico, white supremacy in America, COVID-19 intensive care units, and immigration detention centers. Enrique has been documenting the immigration crisis in the U.S. In 2021, his focus was primarily on the growing Afghan community in the Washington, DC area as a result of the increased number of asylum seekers and refugees who had to flee Afghanistan with the American withdrawal in 2021. As a Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting grantee, he has explored and chronicled the challenges faced by refugees who evacuated Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover. Enrique's work has been published in a number of major news outlets including Al Jazeera English, NBC News, NewsMax, China Global Television Network, PBS, WETA, Bloomberg, and Business Insider. He has collaborated with a large number of NGOs, government agencies and educational institutions including GreenPeace, Sandy Hook Promise, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He is an Emmy Award recipient for video editing of a short documentary produced by Al Jazeera, He Survived Ebola, Now This Doctor Is Battling Coronavirus and a Webby award winner for cinematography for the video The Awful TRUTH about “No Trespassing” Laws. Micah Garen is a documentary filmmaker, photographer and writer. He has over fifteen years experience all over the world, including Iraq and Afghanistan. I'm a reporter and visual journalist working in NYC. I aim to create compelling stories that transport the viewer into another person's world—the sort of documentary journalism that helps you understand an issue because you feel as though you've experienced it for yourself. I've produced video for major news outlets, live-streamed protests, and worked with multimedia investigative teams at The New York Times, NBC News and MSNBC. I also have an upcoming documentary short "Water Tower." I graduated from Columbia's Graduate School of Journalism in 2012.

Eric Arthur Fernandez is an Emmy award-winning cinematographer and producer that specializes in documentary filmmaking about contemporary social-issues and current affairs. He has worked on a wide variety of projects for the New York Times, PBS, VICE News Tonight on HBO, The Guardian, National Geographic, Netflix and others. He has received various awards for his work from the Society of Professional Journalists, The LA Press Club, and the Television Academy. He is a fluent French speaker, HEFAT trained, and comfortable working in hostile environments and remote travel locations.
