I started my career in filmmaking working on independent films in Seattle in the 1990s. I joined I.A.T.S.E Local 488 as a grip and worked on features and television series including DISCLOSURE, NORTHERN EXPOSURE, and others. In 1997, I left the film industry to attend graduate school and then teach filmmaking at Emerson College and Ithaca College while still working on independent films. In 2010, I was a delegate to Poland for the American Documentary Showcase with my short film NOTES ON LIBERTY. From 2013 to 2018, I was one of the primary filmmakers for the Cornell Lab of Ornithology where I shot and produced numerous short-form documentaries on birds and their habitats. I was the Director of Photography for the award-winning noir web series THE CHANTICLEER and in 2017 lived in Vienna, Austria as a Fulbright Scholar. I hold an MFA in Film and Video Production from the University of Iowa Graduate College.

Randy Wenner is active as a freelance radio journalist, with stories airing regularly on NPR, WAER-FM (the SU campus NPR affiliate) and WRVO-FM (the Oswego NPR affiliate). He is the recipient of a 2013 Edward R. Murrow Regional Award for Best Use of Sound, and several Syracuse Press Club and New York State AP Broadcasters awards. Prior to joining the University, Wenner worked at CBS affiliate WTVH-TV 5 in Syracuse as a news producer, reporter and on-air talent. He also served as program director, during which time WTVH maintained its position as a market leader in an era of declining viewership. He began his career in communications as a news anchor/reporter at WRUN/WKGW radio in the Utica area before joining the staff at WTVH.
