EMILIA MELLO (director/producer/photographer) is a Brazilian-American filmmaker raised between West Virginia and São Paulo. She graduated magna cum laude from Columbia University with a degree in Biology and in Latin American Studies. Her first foray into film brought her to black tarp camps of the MST, a communist agrarian reform movement in Brazil. She has since produced for Norwegian reality TV, commercials, and short documentaries as well as for the Oscar nominated documentary film, Wasteland. She is working on her first feature documentary about a peninsula in southeastern Rio state.

Graduated in photography from the University of Vale do Itajaí (Univali). I've been working since 2007 in the field of visual journalism, having worked in the documentary team at UOL, in the newspapers, Notícias do Dia and Diário Catarinense as a photo reporter. I am a video-maker that loves searching for good stories, specially the ones dealing with political and social issues. In 2013 and 2014, I worked as a TeleSUR correspondent in São Paulo as a reporter but also shooting, videographying and video editing. During this period, I covered the June manifestations of 2013; the World Cup in Brazil in 2014; and the Brazilian presidential elections in 2014. I`m Gaby de Saboya, German by birth and Brazilian by citizenship. I love my work as a journalist, filmmaker, and actress. My academic training has also been multidisciplinary and through it Ive also gained much experience in the areas of art, culture, and community activities. I'm, a self-shooting documentary film maker with over 15 years of experience. I graduated with a First from film school in London in 2000, and spent 10 years working in the British television industry. During this time I developed an original series for MTV, an original series fro Channel 5 as well as several one-off documentaries for the BBC and Channel 4. I progressed to directing several large-scale productions including a prime-time BBC One series, "Wallace and Gromit's World of Adventure". I moved to São Paulo, Brazil in 2011 where I began working as senior producer at Vice Brasil's video content department. This involved producing short-form online content for their website as well as directing several branded content campaigns for global names such as Coca-Cola, Ray Ban and Absolut. Based in Pernambuco, Brazil, João Velozo is a freelance photographer specialized in covering urban violence, human rights, and environmental issues, most specifically those taking place in the Brazilian Northeast. Once a Biology major, he quit the academic area in order to focus on photography, through which he felt he could promote bigger changes and social justice. His work as a photographer reflects his continuous dedication to humanitarian and environmental causes. During the Covid-19 pandemic, João reverted the profit made from the sale of his photos to food donations for poor families in his town - an act that aligns with his lifelong personal and professional beliefs. Listed as one of the main photographers of his generation by the 2016 TV show Caçadores de Alma (Soulseekers), João has previously worked for Deutsche Welle, NPR, VICE, Folha de São Paulo, Zero Hora, Diário de Pernambuco, and Doctors Without Borders. He was also one of the recipients of the Yunghi Grant 2018 Award for his work on the population struggling with the lack of access to water in the Brazilian Northeast. In 2020, his book "São Francisco", a visual narrative about the drought in the Brazilian semiarid region, won the Troféu HQMIX festival, the most important Award for comics in Latin America. Since 2019, he also collaborates with Contact Press Images as a contributor. João sees journalism as a way to connect those who cannot speak to those who want to hear.

Rafael Vilela is an independent Brazilian photographer currently reporting on social injustice and the environmental crisis in his country. He was one of the founders of Midia NINJA, an initiative that today has more than 8 million followers. His photographs are part of São Paulo’s Museum of Modern Art (MAM-SP) permanent collection. In 2014 he was invited by Magnum Photos to be one of the Brazilian photographers in the OffSide Brazil project to report on the World Cup. Rafael was also nominated for World Press Photo Joop Swart Masterclass in 2013, 2014 and 2015. He has collaborated on international publications such as The Washington Post, The Guardian, VICE, The Intercept and National Geographic.
