I’m a passionate and energetic filmmaker and photographer based in Australia, working in Africa and Asia. I have over 10 years experience as a producer, writer, director, cinematographer, editor and photographer. I bring a professional eye for detail to projects that I work on, producing films that not only entertain but also inspire audiences to think, feel and respond. I have produced short and feature length films which have screened at film festivals, in cinemas and on TV networks worldwide. After 10 years working globally as a freelance photojournalist, Travis Beard first visited Afghanistan in November 2001, where he contracted the ‘so called’ Afghan Bug. He subsequently moved to Kabul permanently in 2006 where he taught at the country’s first media school – AINA. He went onto co-found a skateboard school – Skateistan; that won an Oscar for best short documentary in 2019. Under Travis’ company Argus he also co-founded a street art school – Wallords and the country’s first contemporary music & arts festival – Sound Central Festival 2011 – 2013. Travis’ debut feature documentary, ROCKABUL focused on the music scene in Afghanistan told through the perspective of the Afghan band, District Unknown, had its World Premiere at the prestigious Rotterdam International Film Festival 2018. It has since screen at 49 festivals around the world and won multiple awards. Travis was a camera operator in production of KABUL AT WORK (2013), FRAME BY FRAME (2015) and AFGHAN CYCLES (2017). Travis also contributed to post-production on MOTELY'S LAW (2015), JIRGA (2018) Travis is currently co-producing a film about metal bands in the conservative society of South Korea called “K-POP KILLERS”. As well as working on his second feature film COGS OF WAR and is has 3 other films in development focused around subject mater from North Korea, CoVid19 and Sustainable Vegan Lifestyle in Tasmania. He is currently writing his first book about his motorcycle touring in Afghanistan entitled: The Bullet is faster than the Bike. Travis also has two music band projects Major Delay in Melbourne and PPP in Europe. Both are releasing material this year. He was also accepted into a music residency voyage in the Arctic Circle for 2020

I live in Australia and travel extensively to out of the way places. My most memorable work experiences would be visiting an emu farm in rural Victoria, travelling to the Kimberley Region in Western Australia to shoot pink diamonds, going in search of crocodiles in northern Queensland, trying to avoid crocodiles in the Northern Territory and chasing seal at a salmon farm south of Tasmania.

David Rusanow is a cinematographer and director currently living in Melbourne, Australia. He has won numerous awards for his work as a DOP from the Australian Cinematographers Society, and in 2009 received the Kodak AWARD for New Director of the Year.  He was also selected to attend the prestigious Budapest Cinematographers Masterclass in Hungary. David has a particular aesthetic vision, and meticulously applies his cinematography experience and skill to create stunning moving pictures.  His expertise and unique style make him a sought after DOP, and he regularly shoots music videos, TVCs, corporate videos and short films. David has worked with clients as diverse as BHP, Addidas, Sony, Tourism Victoria and VICE. Christina Simons is an award-winning international documentary photographer focused on humanitarian issues and cultural diversity. Her work has been exhibited throughout Australia, the United States, England, Europe, Russia and Mexico. Icelandic & American, Simons resides in Australia and is a true citizen of the world speaking multiple languages. She is a member of the Women Photograph collective and regularly mentors and teaches photography in Melbourne, Australia. Throughout her 25-year visual arts career, her work has been represented in publications such as The New York Times and The Guardian UK. Simons has also worked with several NGOs such as Medicines Sans Frontiers (MSF), Marie Stopes and UNICEF. Her passion for human rights, civil liberties and subcultures has culminated in various bodies of work, to name but a few: Running to Nowhere – portraying the experience of Central American refugees, this multi-award-winning body of work garnered solo exhibitions and a book publication Lil Bullfighters – a multi-award winning series portraying the youngest participants of bullfighting in Mexico The Haiti Project – highlighting the plight of children in domestic servitude in Haiti Derby Girls – a multi-award winning series depicting the sport and culture of roller derby in Australia From Violence to Peace – focusing on a positive parenting program in Papua New Guinea Casa Xochiquetzal – depicting the people living in a home for retired sex workers in Mexico More recently, Simons has focused her attention on climate change and its environmental and social impacts. Her work on assignments commissioned by the New York Times on the impact of bushfires in south-eastern Australia in 2019 – 2020, titled Australian Apocalypse which earned various accolades. In 2022, Simons turned her attention to the impacts of extensive flooding brought about by climate change in South Sudan, and the plight of the South Sudanese community and the ongoing humanitarian disaster occurring in the newly formed country, titled Uncertain Land. Simons’ passion for social justice and compulsion to observe has resulted in the creation of striking bodies of work that offer unique visual commentary upon important social, environmental and cultural issues.

Rodney Dekker is a photographer and filmmaker. He has extensively documented stories about climate change through short films, radio and photography in Australia, Bangladesh and the South Pacific. Most recently he produced a series of shot films about refugees and asylum seekers. His story 'Tides of Resilience' commissioned by ABC Radio National, was a finalist of the UN Media Peace Awards, for Best Online, 2012. His short films have been broadcast by SBS, The Guardian, ABC, Sydney Morning Herald, Australian Geographic and the Herald Sun. His photos have appeared in The Toronto Star, The Jakarta Post, The Washington Times, Asian Geographic, The Age, and the Sydney Morning Herald. David Wardell is an award winning documentary filmmaker and photographer. He is currently working with Save the Children covering their work globally and during emergenciesHe is also the Australian correspondent for the Netherlands based VPRO television program, Metropolis. I'm a videographer, reporter, producer, editor, adventurer and story teller with more than 15 years of media experience. I'm at my best behind the lens of a camera in places where stories are deeply human and complex. I've never picked easy assignments, reporting from countries including Cuba, India, Tanzania and outback Australia. Some say I have a knack for getting to the heart of people's stories. I've shot, produced and edited short documentaries, worked in major newsrooms in front and behind the lens, and led a team of newspaper reporters as they transitioned to making web videos. By far the most interesting stories for me are those that would not have been captured had there not been the right eyes to see it.

I began freelance camerawork in 1982 after 6 years as staff news cameraman at Channel 7 Melbourne, Australia. Over 30 years freelance I have worked on many diverse projects, from documentary single episode and series to cinema release feature films. I have just finished (Aug 2015) a documentary series for Arte TV France/Germany on Australia's Great Ocean Road. Standout past productions include two trips to Afghanistan for 'Dr Sarmast's Music School' (ABC Australia), 'Roads Less Travelled' and 'Six Degrees of Separation' series for Lonely Planet TV (Nat Geo). I own Sony XDCAM EX and GH4 camera equipment, comprehensive lighting and sound gear.

Was once a music clip director then the tsunami happened in Banda Aceh, so I sold everything and went on an adventure to document and to assist in the relief and have been doing it for almost 10 years now. I travel and document humanitarian issue and conflict. I was based in Kabul, Afghanistan for 6 years and now live in Istanbul. I mainly cover the Syrian war and also the battles against ISIS. I have also covered Somalia, DRC, South Sudan, Sierra Leone, Syria and Mexico.
