The scale of homelessness in Seattle is seen in the city's downtown core, in neighborhoods, as well as parks and wasteland. The perception of homeless people remains plagued by addiction, mental health issues, and other negative tropes but many are homeless due to tough breaks in a hard economy, and they are standing up for themselves, taking control and speaking out. Extracts of b-roll and bites filmed for the Weather Channel during recent 'Snowmageddon' in Seattle. Extracts of b-roll and bites filmed for the Weather Channel during recent 'Snowmageddon' in Seattle. One of a series of testimonial videos I directed, shot and produced for Seattle Central College. FLINT, Michigan — Much of the nation sees the 2018 midterms as a referendum on the last two years of Trump. For many Michiganders, however, this election comes down to two elements: hydrogen and oxygen A geoduck is the world’s largest burrowing clam. That’s pronounced “gooey duck.” And it looks like a... um… (well, you have eyes.) This saltwater clam is unique to the Pacific Northwest and is challenging to harvest. But the crew at Taylor Shellfish Farms in Bow, Washington, have their methods. How do they taste? Imagine the sweetness of scallops combined with the saltiness of calamari. A film about the power of music as a connector between places, cultures, and generations. Based on the album "Voices of the Guardians," by Gareth Laffely and Lance Bendiksen in collaboration with some of the brightest minds in music today, we set out to explore the sounds and songs of different Native American sacred areas across the USA to better understand their local cultures and stories. Here is my action cinematography reel, footage from a couple years ago.

About Curran F.
Curran is an award-winning documentary and commercial director originally from Boston, MA (no, he does not have the accent). Currently residing in Seattle, WA, he hopes to use his work to “cultivate a more active and empathetic interest in the people and places around us.” When the cameras are busy charging, you can find Curran jumping out of airplanes, getting his hands dirty in the Pacific Northwest backcountry, or pitching a tent under the stars. A spirit for unique stories and visceral content has brought Curran around the world and back - living in floating fishing villages on the East China Sea, documenting microbiologists traversing underground cave systems in British Columbia, and most recently accompanying the New Zealand women’s soccer team to the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.

About Mike K.
Mike Kane is a documentary, editorial, and commercial photographer and video producer based in Seattle. His path to taking pictures began with that small town, midwest restlessness that sets in during high school and never really lets go. At 19, teaching English in northern Nicaragua, his mother's old Nikon FG allowed him to see and share a world so different from home he could scarcely believe it. From that point forward cameras have pretty much led the way. After a good run as a newspaper staffer (SF Chronicle, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, San Antonio Express-News) Mike became a freelancer in 2009 and has since been honored to work with socially conscious foundations and corporate clients, investigative journalism nonprofits, and award-winning publications. His pictures have been recognized by various national photo competitions, the Nieman Foundation at Harvard, the Duke Center for Documentary Studies, and nominated for the Pulitzer Prize.
