I am an 8-time Emmy award-winning, multilingual, investigative journalist, storyteller, docuseries field producer and Co-Executive Producer with extensive experience in local l, investigative, national and international news and documentary reporting. I’ve specialized in immigration, diverse communities, social justice and terrorism reporting. I was a Freelance Correspondent for CBS News. In 2018, I went to cover the war in Syria. I was an Investigative Reporter at KSTP-TV, Investigative Reporter/Anchor in St. Louis, Omaha, and on the U.S.-Mexico border. I was born in Africa, went to school in London and Canada. Some of my most memorable and impactful stories include a worldwide exclusive interview with a terrorist convicted for helping ISIS and I was the only reporter in the Midwest, one of few in the U.S. to cover immigration, the travel ban, terrorism and the worst famine and drought since World War 2 in Kenya and Somalia. I’ve also covered riots and protests in Ferguson and reported on cartels, guns, drugs, money, undocumented children, sex trafficking and immigration on the U.S. Mexico border. I travelled to Pakistan in 2013 during Taliban violence and to The Balkans to understand the largest Bosnian population in St. Louis. My reports won numerous awards including Murrows and Emmys. I’m a member of IRE, SAJA, NABJ, SAG-AFTRA, NAHJ and a mentor to other journalists.

After film school, I started my career in New York City as a Production Assistant and editor. It was exciting to balance my time between production and being on set and post production and editing a project for months at a time. My first producing job was a music video for James Taylor. I moved to Los Angeles and produced music videos and commercials. Soon after, I found myself going to Nashville to produce country music videos for Brooks and Dunn, Toby Keith, Brad Paisley, Dolly Parton, Martina McBride. I have been nominated for 14 Academy Of Country Music Awards for Producer / Best Music Video and have won the award 5 times. In-between the music videos I would produce commercials for clients such as FORD, Tropicana Juice, Kraft Foods, Varilux, Kia, Jack Daniels and Blue Cross to name a few. ​ Always keeping busy, I moved into Television producing specials and long form DVD's for NBC, ABC and FOX. Some of these include: THE PASSION (FOX - Produced all of the pre tape segments), Olivia Newton John-Live from the Sydney Opera house (a Live 10 camera performance based DVD), WIND IN THE WIRE - Producer for a TV movie for ABC, Rascal Flats, Nothing Like This - (ABC) a behind the scenes look of the band creating a new album. Along with numerous promos for NBC/Universal, Fox and ABC. ​ I've even kept up my editing skills by cutting documentaries for Wings Over Wendy's, Pioneers of the Automobile and several commercials and web series. ​ My philosophy has always been to create a “team” atmosphere with my production crew. Growing up, i worked in the family run dry cleaners, where my dad taught me every aspect of the dry cleaning industry. I learned to deal with the public and manage employees. I have put this same type of experience into producing. Over the years I have learned details of all equipment and I try to stay current with the latest trends in everything from cameras to lighting styles. I have made it a point to learn as much as I can from every department on a movie set or in post production. This comes in handy when budgeting and dealing with problems that arise during production. Because of my experience, I am able to aid in decisions and even think outside the box to come up with solutions to a problem. My background producing commercials, promos, documentaries, music videos and multi-camera shows has taught me that there are many creative solutions to the problems that arise in production.

Sepehr Mikailian is an Iranian-born filmmaker living in Los Angeles. He started his studies in performing arts at the Iranian National Radio and Television Academy and later majored in Theatrical Arts at the College of Art and Architecture at the University of Tehran.
