I am a Freelance Cinematographer and Director based in Cape Town, South Africa. I studied Graphic design and Filmmaking at various institutions In Cape Town, London and Edinburgh. I joined Award Winning Egg films Creative Research department in 2003. Assisting some of South Africa’s top Commercial Directors in the pre production conceptualisation phase proved to be hugely beneficial in honing my own fledgling directing skills. Since leaving Egg films in 2010 I have concentrated on furthering my Cinematography and Editing skills. This lead me to do freelance work for several production company’s shooting in many genre’s locally and internationally. I have been fortunate to travel and shoot In 14 countries thus far and spent most of 2015 documenting stories for the United Nations throughout Africa. My work spans nearly two decades of broadcast television and web experience, and ranges from documentary series to commercials. I’ve conducted countless interviews over the years, with luminaries such as Annie Lennox, Joanne Leffson, Francois Pienaar, and Dylan Lewis. I've produced and directed scores of documentary and corporate web adverts and marketing videos over the years. When I'm not wearing my director or DP hat, I'm also editing. I am a video journalist, camera operator and editor based out Cape Town, South Africa. I have recently gone freelance after working as a video journalist with the BBC's flagship business programme on the continent, 'Africa Business Report'. During my time with this international broadcaster I was responsible for shooting and editing news pieces for the business programme. In addition to filming and editing the separate elements of the show I was also responsible for shooting links and editing the programme. I also shot and edited stories for daily news coverage, features as well as online specific pieces. I am also a qualified diving instructor and am able to offer underwater filming including gear. Kristen van Schie is a director and editor from South Africa. Before her shift to film, she worked for ten years as an award-winning journalist, filing dispatches in both her home country and across Africa. Her first short film The Summer Before Seventh Grade (2021) premiered at Dok Leipzig; Landscape (2021) premiered shortly after at FIPADOC in Biarritz and is currently part of the European Film Factory short film programme. Kristen was part of the research team behind Influence, the first South African feature documentary to premiere at Sundance. Most recently, she edited four episodes of the true-crime series Privaatspeurders and worked as an assistant editor on director Simon Wood’s current work-in-progress, Untamed. Kristen has a masters degree in creative documentary directing from the mobile film school DocNomads.

Gianluigi Guercia is a photographer and video maker based in South Africa. He has been working on the African Continent since 2003. His work has been published and exhibited widely. Born in Naples, he moved first to Rome and then from 2003 to Africa where for more than a decade he has practiced documentary photography, working mainly for News Agencies and International publications. From 2005 to 2020 he was a staff photographer and then Southern Africa manager for Agence France-Presse. He covered extensively the Arab Spring from 2011 to 2013. His photographs have been used in books and have been part of exhibition worldwide. He obtained a Three Years master degree in Photography at the ISFCI (Istituto Superiore di Fotografia e comunicazione integrate) in Rome. He has a bachelor’s degree in Political Sciences obtained at Federico II University in Naples. From 2019 onward he is focused on pursuing his personal narrative, mainly focused on the human condition. Between 2012 and 2013, he completed an essay on Cairo where together with Tripoli, lived for 2 years. In 2020, two of his projects have been shortlisted for the 9th contemporary African Photography Prize.
